This free-flowing necklace is such a showpiece. I love threads and I am into Chinese knots lately. I discovered them a while ago and here is an example of what I came up with :)

A Silver Greek Mermaid is hanging by a silk cord that is tied into 19 Chinese Double and Single Button knots with silver-plated shells and beads in between, as well as Greek ceramic beads.

The big little mermaid is 2" long and 1 1/4" wide (at the hands). It is lead-free silver-plated pewter and she looks so happy. The necklace is 24" long and it is adjustable to 30" since it is tied with button slip-knots.

I love making these button-knots, which in Greece are called "prayer knots".
